about

Often painting outside (‘en plein air’), Elena Larkin explores how creative processes might help us to reconnect and reimagine our relationships with the more-than-human world. She approaches painting as a way of fostering interspecies kinship; an ongoing process of shifting perspectives, learning (and unlearning) how we coexist, and celebrating the earth we share.

Larkin holds a Master of Fine Arts from the National Art School (Sydney). She has undertaken residencies at Studio Kura (Fukuoka, Japan), Dunmoochin Art Foundation (VIC, Australia), Eramboo Artist Environment (NSW, Australia) and Beverley Station Arts (WA, Australia). Larkin has been shortlisted in prizes such as The Macquarie Emerging Artist Award 2024 and the Paddington Art Prize 2024 where she received the Residency Prize. She won the 9x5 Waverley Landscape Prize 2022.
